Vicky Silk has become a junior world record holder.

Silk, from Folkestone, set the mark – also a European best – in the under-20 javelin at the IWAS Junior Disabled Games in the Czech Republic with a final throw of 20.63m.

She added a silver in the discus with 18.40 and a bronze in the shot, throwing a new best of 6.45.

She finished off her season at a meeting in Berlin with an improvement on her discus throw in the Czech Republic with 18.83 – just missing her best of 18.88m. She did set a new mark in the shot with 6.51 – enough for another silver.

The Ashford AC member said: "I was pleased with this new personal best and proved to myself that my throws in Czech were not a fluke."

The displays capped an impressive summer for Silk, who also entered the McCain Jumps and Throws Fest at Hemel Hempstead, an able-bodied competition which allows para athletes to take part.

She recorded 18.29 in the discus and 5.84 in the shot.

In the UKA Disability Athletics Challenge at Crystal Palace, she claimed another silver with a throw of 18.71
