Crews spent half an hour at the scene, putting the flames out with specialist chimney gear.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

The fire service has since issued a reminder that everyone with a working fireplace, log or coal burner should have their chimney or flue swept routinely.

The service says if you are burning logs, this should be done at least twice a year.

With coal, this should be done at least once a year.
