Car hits road sign in Canterbury Road, Ashford

A woman had to be treated by paramedics after a car hit a road sign.

The incident happened in Canterbury Road at the junction with Cemetery Lane, Ashford, at 11.20am this morning.

An eyewitness said: "A car has crossed a pedestrian crossing point, knocking down a lamppost, before coming to a halt with the lamppost still trapped beneath the car."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 11.15am on Sunday, April 2, regarding a report that a car had struck a sign on the central reservation in Cemetery Lane, Ashford.

"Police officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service went to the scene where a woman received medical attention."
