A woman from Folkestone has died after a car crash in Spain, it emerged today.

Victoria Leadsham died at 2am on Monday in the Alicante region of Spain.

It is believed she was working in the area, popular among tourists, at the time.

The Foreign Office confirmed Victoria's death and said it was "providing consular assistance to the family at this sad time".

Friends and family have paid touching tributes to "beautiful" Victoria on Facebook.

Roger Pats Patterson said: "Deepest condolences are with the Leadsham family at this sad time. Thoughts are with Gary and Sue. RIP Victoria Leadsham."

Friend Billie-Jo Snape said: "Night night my beautiful friend Victoria Leadsham. Been on my mind all day! Big hugs to Gary, Sue, Jadie and family."

And Wayne Norris said: "This world we live in is a cruel, cruel place at times RIP Victoria Leadsham."

Another tribute, posted on Miss Leadsham's Kent Freedom Movement page, reads: "I've just heard the sad news about Victoria. I'm presuming it's the same girl. She was killed in a traffic accident in Spain at 2am yesterday.

"What an amazing woman she was. Such a life force!

"She drove her big van all over Europe mostly on her own. Tragic."

Miss Leadsham worked as a driver for Leadsham Trading Co Ltd, based in Acrise, near Folkestone, which was owned by her father, Gary Leadsham.

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of a British National, named Victoria Leadsham, on Monday, June 10 in Spain.

"We are providing consular assistance to the family at this sad time."
