Ashford Rugby Club produced a resounding display, scoring 54 points without reply, as they returned to action with a combined Kent 1/Kent Vase victory at home to whipping boys Askeans.
The hosts started strongly and took the lead after two minutes when Trevor Marama crossed the line for the first of his two tries.
Ashford then settled into a well drilled game plan which saw them control most of the game.
Marama grabbed his second try from centre, and then Owen Roberts drove hard to just reach the line for his try.
Joe Larking picked up and dived over from close range, and Danny Bushell’s superb support play finally paid dividends when he scored.
Liam Murray controlled the game at fly-half and scored a great try.
Steve Manktelow went over in the corner and Peter Walsh finished off the scoring with a great charge down the touchline.
JJ Murray converted all-but-one of the tries, rounding off a very satisfying afternoon.
The win should give the team momentum going into this Saturday’s game at league leaders Medway.
