Bexley stabbing: Man charged with attempted murder after woman stabbed in Penhill Road

A 33-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Bexley.

The victim, who is in her 30s, is still fighting for her life in hospital and remains in a critical condition.

Penhill Road in Bexley was closed for multiple days and traffic was diverted while a police investigation took place.

The incident happened on Tuesday, January 16, at around 4.07pm.

Tom Curant, who is believed to be known to the victim, was arrested on Saturday and charged with attempted murder.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court this morning and was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, February 5.

Speaking about the incident at the time, Insp Graham Rickard, from the local policing team in Bexley, said: “We arrived at the scene within three minutes of the initial report and provided first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived.

"Sadly she is very seriously injured and has been taken to hospital in a critical condition.
