Man with slashed face sees part of Bexleyheath by Caffè Nero and Broadway Shopping Centre cordoned off

A man seen with a slashed face prompted police to cordon off a road in Bexleyheath this evening.

By the time officers reached Townley Road just before 7pm the injured man left the area in a car – although he later turned up at hospital.

Police taped off a section of the town near the Broadway Shopping Centre between Caffè Nero and the library, with gym users left working out at a fitness hub within the cordon escorted out by officers.

A Met spokesman said: "Shortly after 7.10pm a man self-presented at a south London hospital with a slash injury to his face. His condition has been assessed as not life-threatening."
