Belvedere Station shut after person pronounced dead on the railway tracks

A railway station has been shut after a person died at Belvedere Station in Bexley.

Officers were called to Station Road in Lower Belvedere shortly before 12pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

An air ambulance and paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A London ambulance spokesperson said: "We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews and our hazardous environment response teams, with the first of our medics arriving within four minutes.

"Unfortunately a person was found dead at the scene.”

Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

Travel between Belvedere and Abbey Wood remains suspended while emergency services are dealing with the incident.

Rail operator Southeastern says disruption on the line to and from London Bridge via Slade Green is to be expected until 4pm.

Tickets are being accepted on other services.

British Transport Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
