Now Mawien Mawien, 38, of Portland Close, Romford, has been charged with murder, Section 18 wounding of another man, and possession of a bladed article.

He is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates Court today.

An investigation was launched after Met officers were called to an east London hospital at 4.30am on February 11 following reports two people suffered stab injuries.

Despite the efforts of medics, Trei died at the hospital. The second man, aged 24, was discharged from hospital later that same day.

A post-mortem examination held last Tuesday (February 14) found the cause of death to be a stab wound to the chest.

He appeared at Willesden Magistrates' Court where he was remanded in custody. A trial has been set for April 2 2024, at the Old Bailey.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder last Saturday (February 18) and has been bailed to a date in May.
