Thameslink and Southeastern trains through Bromley cancelled after body on tracks at Bickley

Trains have been cancelled after a person died on the tracks near a station.

Thameslink and Southeastern services between Swanley and Bromley South were affected following the incident in Bickley this afternoon.

Services are up and running again but no trains are stopping at Bickley after the incident at 1.30pm, a spokesman for Thameslink said.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said officers were called to reports of "a casualty on the tracks".

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene," they added.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Earlier trains were suspended on Thameslink between Peckham Rye and Orpington and Sevenoaks.

Meanwhile, Southeastern warned its passengers that trains had been affected from 1.30pm in the area with bus shuttles being brought in to transfer people between Shortlands and Brixton.

At 2.50pm the rail operator confirmed all trains were running as normal again.
