Woman taken to hospital after police car crash near Guy Earl of Warwick pub, Welling

A woman has been hospitalised after being cut from a vehicle involved in a crash with a police car.

Police, ambulance crews and the fire brigade rushed to the scene this morning after one of the cars overturned.

The Met Police confirmed a marked police vehicle was in collision with another vehicle on Park View Road, by the Guy Earl of Warwick pub in Welling at 7.30am.

A spokesman for the force said: “The driver of the other vehicle, a woman aged in her 20s, was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

“Her condition has been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

“The police vehicle was travelling to an emergency call at the time of the incident. Two officers in the police vehicle were also taken to hospital as a precaution.”

Traffic officers are investigating the incident alongside colleagues from the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.

The spokesman confirmed their enquiries will involve analysis of all available footage of the collision along with data from the police vehicle.

A mandatory referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “Crews were called to a road traffic collision at 7.42am.

“Two vehicles were involved including one which had overturned.

“A woman was released from one of the vehicles by firefighters and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.”
