Bromley boxers Alex Bellingham and Dexter Haughton will both feature in big title fights this month.

The duo will compete in the televised Quest Boxing League competition at the K2 arena in Crawley.

Bellingham will face off against Birmingham rival Connor Cartright for the competition's vacant British welterweight title, while Haughton will look to secure a historic win for the British lightweight belt against Newcastle’s Jak Johnson.

For Bellingham, the fight will be his first competitive outing in more than three years due to the pandemic and the undefeated 28-year-old says it will be the perfect test to see if he still has what it takes to achieve his ambitions within the sport.

“I’ve been out of the ring now for three years due to Covid and some personal issues but I’ve still got big aspirations in boxing and I need to put on a good performance," he said.

“When boxing did start back up again it was only really the big names, like Anthony Joshua, that were boxing and it was hard for up-and-coming fighters like myself to get on shows.

“Physically and mentally I feel better than I have ever felt before and it is crucial for me to get back fighting competitively. I seriously want to perform in this fight and you are going to witness a great performance.”

Haughton has already established himself as one of the show's biggest stars after capturing belts in three different divisions. The 31-year-old, who trains out of the Keddles and Bruce gym in Horton Kirby, has yet to taste defeat in the league since joining the show in September 2021, and if victorious will become the first boxer to capture every belt the show has on offer.

“It was always the plan to work my way up to fight for the British title when joining the Quest competition and I wanted to win the novice, regional and national title which I’ve done and now I fight for the British," Haughton said.

“All of my fights have been tough fights at a high level and that is what I’ve wanted and Jak Johnson is going to be a serious test.

"Fight after fight I’ve grown as a boxer and the skill, aggression and power keeps increasing and that’s what we keep working in the gym to ensure I beat every opponent.

“I had a couple of weeks off after the win over Shaun Smith back in September and I’ve started this fight camp for Johnson already fit.

"When I first started out I used to watch these shows on TV and I set myself a target of winning that British belt and it is all about sticking to that goal no matter what."
