Evie Smith was all smiles - quite literally - after a new personal best at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Sunday.
The 17-year-old from Bromley, daughter of former Gillingham midfielder Neil, was competing in her first senior competition.
And Smith grew into the experience thanks to her calming technique which saw her finish 10th in the women's 3m springboard final (275.90).
“Earlier (in qualifying for the final), I was nervous, I just told myself I need to enjoy it," said Smith.
"That is what I did, I just went back and just made sure I had a smile on my face the whole way through. That calms me down a bit.
"I am over the moon. It was all about taking the experience in during my first senior competition.
“I have had all my family here. They came to see me before and after all my competitions.
"It is just amazing, just the crowd as well, even people you don't know, they are all there supporting you.
"It is such an amazing feeling when they cheer for you when your name is called, it is really overwhelming.”
