Sundridge Park beat Canterbury to win Srixon Junior 4somes League Finals Day; North Foreland edge Rochester and Cobham in plate finale

Junior golfers from Sundridge Park rose to the occasion to become the new champions at the Srixon Junior 4somes League’s Finals Day.

Park’s line-up of captain Kieran Parkins, Lennon Hill, Ollie Gane, Max Murray, Harry Giles and Freddie Corke beat host club Canterbury to championship honours after an extra-hole play-off.

The title is the culmination of almost six months of competition. Starting in Easter, 12 teams were divided into East and West divisions, with the divisional winners playing for the championship.and the runners-up contesting the plate.

This year’s plate winners are North Foreland. Their team of skipper Brook Hewitt, Luke Hopson, Jasper Nutley-King, Taylor Burgess, Riley Weatherly and Harry Warren defeated Rochester and Cobham - again after an extra hole.

The victorious sides will also go into the record books as the last winners of the event with Srixon as sponsors. After an 11-year partnership the competition will be known as the Junior 4somes League until a new supporter is found.

League spokesman Mark Timlett said: “Srixon have been very generous with their support over the last 11 years, especially considering that our league is a minor, parochial affair compared with their worldwide market and the star players they sponsor.

“But it has certainly helped make Finals Days good places to be for those young players representing their clubs and for the supporting parents, without who competitions like this wouldn’t exist.”
