Welling manager Steve Lovell makes first signings as Anthony Cook, Olu Durojaiye and Dominic Vose return to Park View Road

Welling have announced five new signings - despite the National League South season being suspended for two weeks.

The Wings are yet to play a league game since former Gills boss Steve Lovell was named their new manager.

Chairman Mark Goldberg opted to bring in Lovell after the Wings sacked Bradley Quinton with the club rooted to the foot of the National League South table after taking just eight points from 11 league games.

Three of the players are returning to Park View Road after previous spells with the club.

Last season's player-of-the-year, Anthony Cook, initially left the club in the close season but returned at the start of the 2020/21 campaign only to depart Park View Road again shortly after.

Dominic Vose played an integral part in keeping the Wings in the National League in the 2014/15 season. Subsequent moves to Wrexham, Grimsby and Scunthorpe followed but Vose has most recently featured for Dulwich and Kingstonian. He joined Margate in November but left weeks later without playing a game after the season was halted at Step 3.

Olu Durojaiye is also back with Welling and he is joined by fellow new signings Scott Doe and Kristian Campbell. Centre-back Doe left Dover by mutual consent in February to join Romford as he was no longer able to train on a full-time basis.

Full-back Campbell recently left Tonbridge Angels after joining the club from Eastbourne in July.

Welling confirmed the departure of defender Finn O'Mara along with Billy Bennett, Lanre Azeez and the popular Ryan Blackman.

The National League South season was suspended for two weeks on Friday which means Welling's scheduled trip to Hungerford on Saturday has been postponed.
