Road blocked after agricultural fire in Hoath

An early-morning fire in a large haystack forced police to shut off a country lane in Hoath on Sunday.

Emergency crews were called to Old Tree Road shortly after 5am after a number of bales went up in flames.

Officers closed the road between Church Lane and Hollow Road while firefighters tackled the blaze.

Farm machinery was also used to break up the haystack, which was approximately 25m by 10m in size.

Fire crews remained at the scene until Monday afternoon to keep a watching brief on the stack.

It is not known what started the fire .
