Canterbury Rugby Club head coach Andy Pratt must decide whether to gamble on the fitness of new signing Paul Brown in Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash at Dorking.

The 25-year-old Samoan threequarter was due to play for the 2nd XV in a Kent Invicta League game against Blackheath last weekend but Blackheath called the game off, leaving Brown without the chance to gain some match fitness.

Pratt (pictured) said: “Because Paul didn’t play last week I haven’t made my mind up yet whether to play him on Saturday.”

Dave Marshall was due to have a fitness test on his hamstring problem last (Wednesday) night but otherwise Pratt has a full squad available against a Dorking side who are four points behind Canterbury in National League 3 London & South East after losing for the first time this season last Saturday 30-23 at Ampthill.

At the same time Canterbury were making it seven wins out of seven with a 40-5 success over Gravesend at Merton Lane, but Pratt added: “Ampthill are tough on their home ground and we know that we are still in for a hard game at Dorking.”
