A motorcyclist has denied causing the death of a dog walker on a pedestrian crossing.

Michael Jayes, 20, pleaded not guilty to causing the death of John Hobson on January 15 by driving dangerously.

Jayes, of Glebe Cottage, Eastling Road, Eastling, was riding his Honda XR125 on Whitstable Road, near the recreation ground in Faversham, on December 7 last year when he collided with Mr Hobson.

The 61-year-old father, of Abbey Street, Faversham, was taken to the Royal London Hospital with head injuries and died at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford on January 15.

Jayes appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today to enter his plea to the one charge.

His trial will start on January 6 and is expected to last four days.

Judge Michael Carroll released Jayes on unconditional bail.
