Boy fractures leg after collision in Canterbury car park

Police are investigating an incident in which an eight-year-old boy suffered leg fractures after being hit by a car in a store car park in Canterbury.

It happened on Friday around 3.20pm in the Iceland car park at Wincheap. The boy was flown by Kent Air Ambulance to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, where he underwent surgery.

It is believed a learner driver may have been in the car park at the time and he or she and their instructor may have seen what happened. It is also thought two men helped the child after the incident. One may have been wearing a Morrisons uniform.

Any witnesses are asked to call PC Matt Jackson from East Kent's roads policing unit on 01622 690690, quoting reference 19-798.
