When the crews arrived they found the structure was alight – but could not prevent the flames from engulfing neighbouring outbuildings.

A fire service spokesman said: "No casualties were reported and the cause is believed to be accidental.

"Crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and main jets to tackle the blaze, which had also spread to outbuildings and a nearby boat."

A spokesman for nearby business Grove Ferry River Trips says the firm had to cancel all of its bookings today, as Grove Ferry Road was sealed off by emergency services.

The fire was extinguished and crews had left just before 12.30pm.
