Canterbury mother and daughter charged with murder of London pensioner Don Banfield

A Canterbury wife and daughter are due before magistrates today charged with a murdering their husband and father - who went missing a decade ago.

Shirley, 63, and Lynette Banfield, 40 from Ashford Road, will appear before West London magistrates.

Pensioner Don Banfield vanished more than 10 years ago after last being seen leaving his house in Wealdstone, north west London, on May 19, 2001.

The retired betting shop manager was 63 at the time.

The pair also face charges of conspiracy to defraud, forgery and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Shirley Banfield has also been charged with a further fraud offence of dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit.

They were charged by the Metropolitan Police on Thursday, and were both remanded into custody.
