Dilly Newton made her senior GB international debut on Wednesday in a 3-2 victory over hosts USA.

The 22-year-old defender, who plays club hockey for Canterbury, helped the GB squad to victory in the second match of a five game series, in San Diego.

Fellow Canterbury player Natalie Seymour also came off the bench in the narrow win.

The USA recently qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games after a surprise victory over World champions Argentina in the PanAm Final. They lost 3-0 to Great Britain in the opening game.

The third match in the series is due to take place on Thursday.

Newton was one of seven changes made to the GB team for the second match.
