Investigation launched by Kent Police after patrol car crashes into traffic lights in Sturry Road in Canterbury

An investigation has been launched after a police patrol car smashed into a set of traffic lights in Canterbury.

The officer driving the car suffered minor injuries in the crash, which happened in Sturry Road yesterday evening.

It is not yet known what caused the accident, but no other cars are thought to have been involved.

Kent Police spokesman Lisa Humphreys said: "We're investigating the circumstances of the incident.

"Only one person was involved, who received minor injuries."
