Canterbury RFC are continuing to prove that there is life after relegation by setting a hot pace at the top of their league.

Canterbury made it 10 wins out of 10 in National 3 London & South East with Saturday's 31-24 success at Ampthill.

Rugby club chairman Giles Hilton said: "The team have set themselves some high standards so far this season and of course we are all hoping that they can maintain them but it's not just the 1st XV.

"The 2nds are top of their league, the 3rds have only lost a couple of games and the junior section is also doing well.

"Of course it was disappointing to get relegated but with our current success on the field, Andy Pratt (pictured) doing a good job as our new coach and things like the new stand, it means the whole club has been reinvigorated."

Canterbury take on Staines at Merton Lane (2.30pm) on Saturday and they will be keen to give long-serving Rob Keir a winning send-off in his last game for the club.

Pratt, meanwhile, will give a fitness test to skipper Mike Melford before settling on his line-up for the Staines game.

If Melford is ruled out by a back problem, Nick Van Mol will again deputise, while new scrum-half Dave Heads comes into the squad for the first time.
