Canterbury couldn’t maintain an impressive start as they lost 43-24 at Old Albanians in National League 2 South.

The visitors opened up a 7-0 lead after Peter Kelly reacted quickest to a handling mistake and Tom Best added the extras.

There was little more to cheer in the first half, however, as the more powerful Albanians soon hit their stride, racking up the points in spite of Best’s penalty to lead 31-10.

The City club took advantage of some second-half indiscipline by the hosts to score two more converted tries, Wim Baars and Nick Woodbridge touching down, but still lost out by 19 points.
