A chart-topping music star has delivered an embarrassing snub to Herne Bay's New York nightclub after pulling out of a Halloween gig.

Wretch 32 – who has three top five hits and a number one single to his name – was booked to appear at the Central Parade venue next Saturday.

But he pulled out this week to appear at Ashford’s Hustle nightclub – where he’ll earn £4,000 for a 25-minute performance – after his management received what they described as “negative feedback” about New York.

The rapper’s eagerly-awaited appearance was set to attract massive crowds to the seafront venue.

New York’s Sandra Veizaga (left), who claims they were going to pay a fee of up to £3,200, said: “I understand the agent didn’t think it was a suitable venue. I don’t know whether it was a problem with the area or if the venue wasn’t big enough, but apparently the agent didn’t approve it. The only thing I know for sure is that he’s not coming.

“It’s not a good thing to do in business generally.

Wretch 32, whose hits include Orthodox, Traktor and number one single Don’t Go, is a rising star in the music world.

He performed at the MOBOs earlier this month, where he was nominated for three awards.

Marvin Middlecoat, who promotes the artist, said: “His management did a check on the club and received negative feedback.

"They didn’t want to put him in a venue which would be detrimental to him.

“The more they looked into the club, the more they worried about it. They had to consider what putting him there would do to him as an act.

“It’s all covered by contract, so we’ll be giving them back any money they’ve paid for printing and other costs.

“It’s a real shame because Herne Bay needed something like this to happen.”
