Claire's in Canterbury is poised to close down and be replaced by a noodle restaurant.

The accessories chain has had a long presence in the high street, but its unit next to McDonald’s is set to change hands.

The firm is due to bow out of the city and be replaced by Chopstix noodle bar - a company with more than 80 branches across the country.

Chopstix, which prides itself on being the “largest Asian-inspired quick-serve restaurant in the UK”, has submitted store alteration plans to the city council.

It wants to install new sliding doors at the unit and offer eat-in and takeaway services.

Claire’s has been approached for comment but did has not responded.

Last week, it was revealed Sun Street takeaway Pork & Co is leaving Canterbury.

After more than a decade in the heart of the city, the eatery said farewell following the expiration of its lease on Sunday.

Another business to have waved goodbye to Canterbury is Wrapchic - the Indian-style wrap company which opened next to Hotel Chocolat just last year.

The short-lived takeaway is set to be replaced by a vape shop.

Meanwhile, Mercery Lane furniture store Queen Bee Home is to undergo a restructure and solely focus on its cafe offering.

Owners have decided to stop selling furniture and homeware items following a 10-year presence in the city. A small coffee shop already operates from the store, and it will remain in use following an expansion.

Elsewhere, plans to open a Taco Bell in the former Jigsaw clothing store remains undecided, while steak restaurant herd. is now in operation after taking up residence in the old Gourmet Burger Kitchen site.

Socialite, the rooftop restaurant above the Hampton by Hilton hotel, is set to have its long-awaited opening this Friday.

Meanwhile, a bid has been launched to convert the high street nail salon Beautiful Nails into a refreshments outlet.

An application to open a store selling bubble tea was submitted at the end of the month.

The firm planning to open in the unit on the junction with The Friars has not been revealed, however, it will be a company specialising in bubble tea.
