Blaze in garage in Thanington Way, Canterbury, Kent Fire and Rescue Service called

Fire destroyed the contents of a domestic garage.

It happened at around 4.20pm on Sunday at Thanington Road, Canterbury.

Two fire engines were called out and crews were at the scene for half an hour, using a hosereel jet to deal with the flames.

The garage had no car inside but it had stored items, which were destroyed by the flames.

It was detached, 5m by 5m and part of a series of brick-build garages but the fire did not spread to the adjoining ones.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service now believes that the fire may have been caused by an electric cable reel overheating.
