Canterbury: Police investigate clown chase at University of Kent campus

Police are investigating after a cyclist was chased through a university's campus by a pack of clowns.

Former student Zeph Fenn took to social media yesterday to say how he was chased across the University of Kent's campus in Canterbury by a silver Ford Fiesta.

Officers investigating the incident, which was reported to police just before 11pm, are now asking witnesses to come forward.

The clown craze, often referred to in the States as Killer Clown, has seen so-called pranksters don either clown masks or entire outfits and wait outside schools, hang around near homes or run down streets in an attempt to scare people.

Mr Fenn wrote on Facebook: "Be careful everyone. This is a viral hype which has taken a very dark turn."

Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said officers are investigating.

She said: "We received a report of concern at 10.45pm on Sunday, October 9 that a car containing a number of people in clown masks was seen to be driving in an anti-social manner along St Dunstan’s and on the University of Kent campus in Canterbury.

"Officers spoke to witnesses and inquiries are ongoing."
