Canterbury woman to stand trial accused of attempting to murder mum stabbed 13 times in Bekesbourne Lane

A woman accused of attempting to murder her mother will go on trial in the new year.

Olivia Moat, 49, is accused of stabbing mother Shirley, 78, 13 times at a property in Bekesbourne Lane, Canterbury on the evening of August 12.

Olivia Moat will appear before Canterbury Crown Court on January 25, Judge Simon James today ruled.

Moat, of Brymore Road, Canterbury, who was remanded in custody.

The trial is expected to take between five and seven days.

Neighbours described the terrifying moment police descended on their quiet village after officers were called to the address at about 11.20pm.

The pensioner suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a London hospital.

Police located Olivia Moat nearby in Littlebourne Road and arrested her in connection with the incident.

Magistrates previously heard the victim suffered 13 stab wounds to her hands, face and head.
