Did you witness fatal accident?

A NOTICE board appealing for witnesses has been put up in St Dunstan's Street, Canterbury, at the spot where a pedestrian was killed last month.

Francis McManus, 64, of London Road, Canterbury, was crossing Kirby's Lane just before midday on Monday, May 24, when he was hit by a Cleanaway truck turning into the main street.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

The 58-year-old male driver of the truck, who comes from Canterbury, was arrested and bailed to return to Canterbury Police on July 16.

A police spokesman this week said: "This was a terrible accident and it is vital that anyone with information comes forward, so that we can establish the full facts."

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC James Sutcliffe on 01227 762055.
