A senior police officer says he is "horrified" by a drink-driver being stopped 15 minutes after a previous ban ended.

Peter Savage gave a false name and address when questioned by police officers in Canterbury.

Savage, 28, of Deansway Avenue, Sturry, admitting drink-driving and driving without a licence or insurance at city magistrates.

Prosecutor Jim Harvey said Savage had been “found drunk 15 minutes after the end of a three-year ban.”

Supt Chris Hogben said: “I am horrified to see an individual acting in this way.

“This shows not only a total disregard for the justice system and courts but, most importantly, for the safety of the public.”

Savage was handed another three year driving ban and an 18-month supervision order.

He must complete 200 hours unpaid work and will pay £60 costs.
