A2 closed near Canterbury following 'serious' crash

Part of the A2 was closed after a serious crash near Canterbury.

The coast bound carriageway was shut between the A28 at Wincheap and the A2050 turn off for Canterbury East and Bridge but had opened by 8.30am.

Three cars collided at around 4.20am.

The slip road onto the A2 coast bound from the A28 was also closed due to an oil spill and barrier damage.

Highways bosses said traffic was being diverted via local routes and were urging people to plan ahead and consider alternate routes.

Police, paramedics and firefighters are at the scene and a man is being treated for injuries which are not thought to he life threatening.
