A man has been charged with drink driving after a car flipped onto its roof on the Old Thanet Way last night.

David Foad, 40, of Cromwell Road, Whitstable, was arrested at the scene of the crash in Herne Bay near the junction with Wye Green.

Police had to shut off the Whitstable-bound section of the road at 10.30pm while firefighters from Herne Bay cleared a fuel leak.

Two passengers in the car were taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate with what were believed to be minor injuries.

The wreckage was later cleared and the road reopened.

Foad has also been charged with driving without a licence or insurance.

He is set to appear at Canterbury Magistrates' Court on September 6.
