EuroCanterbury Ladies signed off before their winter break with a 2-1 home win over the University of Birmingham in the Investec Women's Hockey League Premier Division on Saturday.

South African international Jen Wilson, whose appearances so far this season have been limited by a back injury, struck twice in the space of three minutes midway through the first half to give Canterbury a 2-0 half-time lead.

The University of Birmingham pulled a goal back on the hour through a penalty corner by Susie Gilbert, but Canterbury held on.

They will resume league action against Clifton on February 11 in third place in the table.
