Manager Ray Turner is liking the fact rival clubs are talking about his Faversham Town side.

Lilywhites have upset Herne Bay by signing three of their Kent League title-winning squad – midfielder Danny Lawrence following Luke Harvey and Jamie Maxted to Salters Lane.

Turner also risked Sittingbourne’s wrath by hijacking their move for defender Nick Davis.

But the Faversham boss (pictured) said: "It’s easy to sit back, let things go on around you and have other clubs dominate everything.

"From my point of view, I’ve attracted good players who have bought into my ideas and the ambition of the club.

"If that means we’re being talked about, then good."

Turner, who has promoted Danny Hockton to player-coach and brought in UEFA B goalkeeping coach Nick Rogers to work with the keepers, believes latest signing Lawrence will make the team more of a threat.

He said: "I’ve been searching for someone with creativity who can beat a man and open sides up and Danny fits the bill.

"We struggled for goals at times last season and I’m sure he’ll help us going forward.

"It’s important we establish ourselves at Ryman League level going into our third season.

"I’ve got the squad together early – a lesson I’ve learnt from last year – and kept things tight at training so everybody gets to know each other quickly.

"You can never guarantee everything will come together, but I’m ambitious as a manager and if we can get ourselves in the top 10 there’s always a chance you can go on a run and push for the play-offs."
