Firefighter 'saves' man dangling from Canterbury Fire Station

A firefighter was seen rescuing a man dangling from a flagpole outside Canterbury fire station this afternoon.

But thankfully, the man was a dummy and the rescue part of a training exercise.

Pictures taken between 12 and 1pm today actually depict a 'safe access exercise' simulating a man falling over while on a roof.

Fire crews generally do exercises daily, but they are normally in the yard and out of view of the public.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Firefighters organise and take part in training and exercises regularly as part of their role as emergency responders."
