Canterbury: Fire in shop in St George's Street

Firefighters were called to a city centre shop after a fire broke out last night.

Crews rushed to a store in St George's Street, Canterbury, at around 9.45pm where a small blaze had started in a kitchen area.

The building's sprinkler system activated and crews wearing breathing apparatus made the scene safe, working with the premises staff to ventilate the building.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause is thought to be accidental.

Crews had left the scene by 10.15pm.
