Firefighters called to Chapel Lane, Blean, after blaze in farm buildings

Firefighters spent nearly three hours tackling a blaze at a farm building in Blean today.

They were called to an agricultural unit at Chapel Lane just after midnight following reports that an industrial wood chip burner was on fire.

The flames then spread to processing machinery, hoppers and the roof of the building.

Firefighters contained the fire using compressed air foam, a main jet, a hose reel and water from a hydrant.

They also used a fog spike and a reciprocating saw to gain access to the hopper to extinguish the blaze.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is not known and crews left the scene just before 3am.
