Police forensics at bungalow as part of probe into discovery of unconscious man in field at Canterbury Academy

Police forensics teams have spent hours at a bungalow as part of an investigation into the discovery of a seriously injured man in a school field.

Officers were sent to the property in New Dover Road, Canterbury, where a number of police cars and vans were seen outside.

It is understood they arrived there at about 2pm yesterday and remained at the scene into the evening.

A police spokesman confirmed the visit formed part of their probe into a potentially serious assault.

A man in his 40s was found unconscious in a school field at Canterbury Academy at about 4.15am on Tuesday.

Paramedics rushed to the scene in Knight Avenue and the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is receiving treatment for a serious head injury.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are now investigating what happened.

Three men, who are understood to know the victim, were arrested on suspicion of assault and later bailed until June 24.

As part of their investigation, officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance in Union Street, Canterbury, on Monday evening.
