Teenager attacked by group of girls in Canterbury sparking police investigation

A teenager was attacked by a gang of at least three girls while youngsters watching on allegedly "stood laughing and filming".

Police are investigating the incident, which saw the girl assaulted near St Stephen's Road in Canterbury at about 3.25pm yesterday.

The victim's mother has taken to social media to tell how her daughter was "jumped" near St Stephen's Park.

She told how three girls allegedly "hit her repeatedly while about 10 kids stood laughing and filming it".

She added that her daughter is "very sore" but "OK" following the incident.

The mum thanked passers-by who intervened to stop the attack.

One member of the public is said to have called the police, while two other people helped get the teenage victim home.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 4.30pm yesterday.

Officers are now investigating the incident, and urge anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.
