Dave Law to raise cash for children's charities

Car valet Dave Law is hoping to clean up for charity by taking on a 19,500-mile drive around the UK, without getting out of his car.

The father-of-eight, from Aylesham, plans to journey to the four corners of Great Britain but, to spice up the charity drive, he will remain inside the vehicle throughout the month-long trip.

He is raising money for the NSPCC and Bliss and has set himself and ambitious target of £2 million.

Dave, 45, of Snowdown Close, who specialises in cleaning luxury vehicles, was inspired to raise money for charity after the near-death experience of his four-year-old son Jacob, who as a baby had to be rushed to hospital.

He said: “Quite simply, the ambulance saved him and I have been thinking for some time about how I could do something to thank the service.

“At present I am in discussions about sourcing the vehicle and am talking to a number of sponsors.

“I know I have set an ambitious target but I wanted to aim high.

“There will certainly be some practical difficulties and discomforts along the way and I will be relying on people’s support with things like food and fuel.”

On the more sensitive issue of going to the loo Dave, who will start his epic journey on May 1, says he will have a chemical toilet in the vehicle.

He said: “I will be asking the general public for assistance with fueling, food and toiletry requirements.

“Don’t panic, I’m nice and clean!”
