Man fights off knife-wielding robber in public toilets in Canterbury

A robber threatened a man with a knife in a public toilet and demanded his mobile phone.

It happened as the victim, aged in his 20s, was washing his hands in the Canterbury Lane loos in Canterbury city centre.

But the victim was able to fight off the robber and escape unharmed to raise the alarm in a nearby shop and call police.

Officers attended the scene shortly after the incident at 5.30pm yesterday but the suspect had fled and inquiries are continuing.

The robber is said to be white, aged between 30 and 40, with brown facial stubble. He was wearing a navy baseball cap and brown thin jacket.
