Chilham: Man in critical condition after being hit on A28

A man is in a critical condition after being hit by a car.

Emergency services were called to the A28 Canterbury Road, Chilham, shortly after 7am after a green Audi A6 struck a pedestrian.

The man in his 30s was treated for injuries and taken to London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 50s, was also taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

It was originally reported that the accident happened near the railway station, but it is now confirmed to be around half a mile away, close to Sunnybank Car Sales.

Now, officers from the serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses.

The road was closed between the junctions with the A252 and Shalmford Street while police investigated.
