Man seriously ill after emergency services called to St George’s Place, Canterbury

A man is in a serious condition after suffering a medical incident on a busy street.

Passers-by were seen giving first aid to the victim on the side of St George’s Place in Canterbury last night.

Emergency services were called to the road, near Tesco Express, at about 6pm.

The man had been found suffering a medical episode, and had been receiving CPR by quick-thinking onlookers.

Following on-site treatment, the victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “I can confirm we were called shortly after 6pm yesterday (November 26) to reports a person had been found in need of medical attention.

“Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by a team from Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex in a road vehicle.

“The person was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.

“We would like to thank all those who came to the aid of the person prior to our arrival.”

Both police and fire services confirmed they attended the scene to assist paramedics.
