Police officer punched as he tried to stop Canterbury high street gang attack

An off-duty police officer suffered injuries to his face as he tried to save a man from a high street attack.

The officer was in St George's Street in Canterbury city centre at about 3.15am on Friday, when he saw a group of people push another man to the ground and kick him several times.

When he tried to intervene to stop the assault, the man was punched, resulting in facial injuries.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have information which could help the investigation to contact them.
