Marlowe joins his peers

CHRISTOPHER Marlowe is finally to take his rightful place alongside Shakespeare, Dickens and other giants of English literature. A memorial to Marlowe is to be unveiled at Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey following a campaign by the Marlowe Society to gain Canterbury's most famous son the recognition he deserves.

A stained glass window commemorating his life will be revealed at a ceremony to be attended by film star and Marlowe devotee Anthony Sher, who will read extracts from his work, actor Nigel Havers, members of the Marlowe Society and other VIPs on Thursday, July 11. The ceremony will begin after Evensong at 5pm.
