Photographs show a silver Mercedes had driven into the front of a property opposite the turning for Fordwich Road.

A resident who lives close by told KentOnline: "I was just on a call for work when I heard quite a big crash.

“It’s quite a busy road so you learn to drown out the noise in the day, but this was on another level.

“I poked my head out of the door and saw the back-end of a Mercedes hanging out."

The A28 is the most regularly used route into the city by motorists travelling to the city from Herne Bay and Thanet.

It is understood no serious injuries were reported.

A police spokesman added: "Officers are currently at the scene and delays are expected in the area while the incident is responded to."
