"He has a reputation as an entertaining live performer and we hope people in Kent can come along and enjoy a night to remember."

The performer is on the road after the release of his 13th studio album Get Up.

He rose to fame with albums Cuts Like a Knife and Reckless including hit singles Run to You and Summer of '69.

In 1991, he released (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, one of the best-selling singles of all time, which appeared on the soundtrack album from the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

He said: "The Get Up Tour is shaping up to be a fantastic summer. We have seen such a great response from fans that we wanted to play as many places as possible, which is why I am delighted to now announce the Canterbury concert.

"We’ll be rocking the stage with songs from the new album, which I think are some of my finest yet, and of course there’ll be some of the old favourites, too."

Kent County Cricket Club has hosted big-named artists in recent years, including Elton John, Sugababes, James Morrison, Madness and Simply Red who perform at the venue on Saturday.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, June 17 via www.ticketmaster.co.uk, priced from £37.50.
