Socialite rooftop restaurant in Canterbury set to open next week following delayed launch

Diners looking forward to tucking into a meal at a new rooftop restaurant are having to wait a little longer.

Socialite in Canterbury was set to open its doors to customers tomorrow (Friday), but work at the St Margaret's Street venue is not yet complete.

The opening date has therefore been pushed back until next week.

An exact day is not yet known, but once the finishing touches are added, diners will be welcomed to the long-awaited eatery.

The plush new restaurant - with a focus on steak - sits above the city's 130-bed Hampton by Hotel which opened last year.

It will be run entirely separate to the hotel and customers will reach the top level via a lift.

A host of bookings for this Friday and the weekend have been cancelled due to the delay in opening.

The new venue will be the second Socialite in the country, with the original restaurant being in Brighton.
